Eric Woodburn (1935)
Titles read: Now Pathe Pictorial has pleasure in presenting ERIC WOODBURN the celebrated character singer from the Windmill Theatre, London, in BOOTS Pathe Studio. On a set dressed to look like a rocky desert landscape we see Eric Woodburn dressed in pith helmet and soldier uniform, marching on the spot and singing the military marching song Boots. He carries a rifle on his back. As is his usual way, Eric stops in the middle of the song and gives us some melodramatic character patter mostly moaning about marching and dreaming of green forests (scenic shots intercut show the countryside). He tells us his boots used to belong to Bill Awkins who is now dead and he gets in a tizz thinking about dreaming of boots of all sizes Reprise of the song.
