In the pines
Written in the 1870s, this American folk song is also sometimes called Black Girl or In The Pines. The Four Pennies had a Top 20 hit with the song in the 60s. And, of course, Nirvana did a great version of the song on MTV s unplugged. Lead Belly made the song famous in the 1940s as did Bluegrass musician Bill Monroe but it was first recorded on record in 1926.
