Ex Louisville police officer sentenced in Breonna Taylors death
An exLouisville police officer was sentenced to 33 months in prison for using excessive force during the deadly Breonna Taylor raid in 2020. The federal judge declined the Justice Department recommendation that Brett Hankison be given no prison time. Hankison is the first person sentenced to prison in the case. He fired his weapon the night of the raid, his shots didnt hit or injure anyone. Hankison is the first person sentenced to prison in the case. Three other expolice officers have been charged with crafting a falsified warrant, but have not gone to trial. None of those three officers were at the scene when Taylor was shot. Taylors death, along with George Floyd, sparked protests across the country in 2020.
