Saving the life of a trout

I was walking past a big tree that had been washed up due to a flood and as I got close to it there was a big splash. I thought it might have been a water rat but on closer inspection I saw it was a trout. This poor bloody thing was in about 6 square feet of water and a long way from the river. It was basically dead if I couldn t get it out. I spent about an hour prodding sticks here there and everywhere to get it into a position that I might be able to grab it. This is the end result.
