Karlheinz Stockhausen explains Kontakte

WDR TV Interview with Stockhausen at WDR Sendesaal Cologne right before his Kontakte premiere in 1960. He talks about the blend of perrecorded electronics with live instruments. Kontakte means contact between these contrasts. With his mixer he is adjusting the volume levels of the instruments and the tape playback according the acoustic properties of the venue. He suggests that in an ideal room he wouldn t need to mix anything.
