Jeremy Corbyn has claimed dozens of Labour MP candidates are secretly supporting him and not the party s official choice in the race for Islington North. Speaking to The Daily Telegraph, the former Labour leader, now running as an independent, said he had been told good luck and make sure you win by former colleagues. Mr Corbyn vowed to push Sir Keir Starmer, his successor as Labour leader, to the Left if he gets back into Parliament, including championing the end of the twochild benefit cap. Mr Corbyn also criticised Sir Keir for not standing by a comment at the last election that he would make a great prime minister, calling the refusal to do so odd. The election battle in Islington North is one of the most closely watched of the campaign. It is seen as a microcosm of the wider split that exists between moderates and leftwingers in Labour.
