Fovea Hex ( Tusk Festival 2016)
Clodagh Simonds formed her first band Mellow Candle at the age of 11, releasing their debut single Feelin High in 1968 at the age of 15. Their album Swaddling Songs made little impact anywhere outside Ireland until quarter of a century later when, as these things are wont to happen, belated Japanese interest grew in the bands releases and people like Stephen Malkmus started covering their songs. Simonds was encouraged and early into this century began creating music under the name Fovea Hex, with contributors including Brian Eno, Robert Fripp, Carter Burwell and others. Receptions for Fovea Hexs cult folk emissions have been adoring amongst those whove heard them and a core began to form at the centre of her shifting ensemble, including Colin Potter (Nurse With Wound) and Michael Begg, wholl both be part of the Fovea Hex quartet at TUSK. In March, Fovea Hex released The Salt Garden. David Lynch is also a fan and we expect a fair few more will have succumbed by the end of the weekend at Sage.
