Fundamentals of Baroque Counterpoint: Clausulas and Cadences, Part 1

When Northwestern University moved to remote learning once the pandemic hit the shores in March, April of 2020, I intended to create a series of videos for each module in my 18thcentury counterpoint class. I never completed this massive undertaking, but here is one of the two introductory videos I did make, which focuses on clausulae and cadences as conceptualized in Bach s day, as well as the fundamentals of invertible counterpoint inherent in these cadences.
