Dans un rapport de 276 feuillets, lInspection générale de la police nationale (IGPN) assure que lintervention des forces de lordre qui a conduit à la disparition de Steve Caniço la nuit de la Fête de la musique nétait pas une faute. Les enquêteurs de lInspection générale de la police (IGPN) ont travaillé durant trois semaines, avant de produire un rapport de 276 feuillets, sur la soirée de la Fête de la musique, au cours de laquelle Steve Caniço a disparu. Ils ont auditionné les témoins, les cadres de police, des pompiers, des secouristes, regardé les vidéos, analysé le plan de situation Pour eux, cela ne fait aucun doute : Aucun élément ne permet détablir que les forces de police ont procédé à un quelconque bond offensif ou une manœuvre sassimilant à une charge repoussant les participants de la fête vers la Loire. Et de préciser que lemploi de la force a été équilibré . La seule question de lusage dune matraque au sol par un policier fera lobjet dune enquête spécifique.
