Full title reads: StratfordonAvon. Sweetest Shakespeare Fancys Child. The Prince of Wales on St. George s Day opens new Shakespeare Memorial Theatre on the banks of the Avon where our greatest Poet lived died is StratforduponAvon, Warwickshire. Prince of Wales (later King Edward VIII, Duke of Windsor) steps out of car and is greeted by civic dignitaries. A fanfare is being played in the background. The Prince walks with dignitaries past lines of waving girls. There are large cheers. M, S The Prince stands at a podium and makes a speech. There are several microphones to pick up his words. He speaks about the theatre being a fitting memorial for William Shakespeare. (Pictures cut out but speech continues). (Natural sound track only No commentary) NB Combined Print available.
