Kalmykia The Other Way

Kalmykia is Europes only Buddhist republic, located in southern Russia. Their ancestors migrated west from Mongolia around 5 centuries ago and despite Stalin deporting the entire population to Siberia, the Kalmyk culture is now being revived after decades of suppression during the Soviet era. Join me for a walk around the capital Elista, which is rather different rom your average Russian city.
