Restoration of a William Merritt Chase Portrait

The conservation and restoration of a portrait of a young lady by William Merritt Chase by Baumgartner Fine Art Restoration in Chicago, Il. The painting arrived significantly damaged with several prior attempts at conservation visible. The old work was removed, the painting stabilized and then, due to the extent of the tears, lined with a rigid interleaf. Finally the painting was retouched and varnished.
