Stand alone self watering irrigation
A very easy method of conserving water in your vegetable bed. No need to purchase expensive drip irrigation gadgets. All you need few disposable milk containers or Pete bottles, few thick cotton strips. The system is self watering, stand alone based on wick irrigation. First of all make 4 holes on upper part of bottle on all four sides. Pass theses long cotton cloth strips through holes on all four sides. Pull the strip to bottom of container. Your system is ready. Dig up holes in beds at distance of 2 feet big enough to accommodate whole of bottle except the mouth. Spread cotton strips on four sides. Transplant saplings at end of each strip loosely making a loop around it. Cover bed with 6 inches of soil so that all strips are covered and only bottle mouth is visible. Fill your bottle with water till top. Sprinkle water on sapling to give it an initial water boost. Now you need to refill bottle after three to four days and dont let it be empty. The cotton c
