According to some estimates, a child goes missing in India every eight minutes. Children from lowincome families of lower castes are stolen for slave labour. Young girls get lured away by false promises of an acting career and end up being sex slaves. This is what our THE LAND OF LOST KIDS short doc is about. The police are doing all they can, but in large cities like Delhi, if they manage to rescue 4 or 5 girls from the clutches of these perpetrators, there are many more. Very often, the families affected can barely afford food, let alone schooling. So the perpetrators exploit their poverty and offer cushy jobs with high pay. But in reality, these offers are nothing but lies. The girls who end up as sex slaves get beaten, poorly fed and constantly yelled at. But their parents are often told that they are doing fine.
