Hydrangeas at Meigetsu in Temple, Kamakura (紫陽花 鎌倉 明月院)
Meigetsuin is a Rinzai Zen temple of the Kenchōji school in KitaKamakura, Kanagawa, Japan. Famous for its hydrangeas, it s also known as The Temple of Hydrangeas (ajisaidera). The main object of worship is goddess Shō Kannon. 95 percent of Hydrangea here is Himeajisai (means princess hydrangea). Its name was derived from smallness and gracefulness of the flowers comparering with other Hydrangea. The flower change from light blue to clear blue, and become deeper day by day. Finally, they change dark oceanblue. Ancient people in the Heian period (7941185) loved its graceful color.
