CLOSER TO HEAVEN 01 Pet Shop Boys London musical

The Pet Shop Boys wrote the songs and Jonathan Harvey ( Beautiful Thing ) wrote the book for the 2001 West End musical Closer to Heaven, which did not have a long run but is fondly remembered by PSB fans and has had two London revivals. Classical actress Frances Barber in Friendly Fire; leading man Paul Keating in title song reprise (with Tom Walker); and Positive Role Model finale. Currently in Edinburgh and headed for London next month is Musik, a new solo show in which Frances Barber reprises her Closer to Heaven character Billie Trix, with songs (including Friendly Fire ) once again by the Pet Shop Boys and book by Jonathan Harvey.
