Viola da gamba making, Part 4 initial cutting of the scroll

Its time to start the next part of the viola da gamba making process which is initial cutting of the scroll. I start with rough drilling holes in the scroll and pegbox. This way there is much less material to cut with the coping saw. After that I begin to slowly cut off excess wood from the sides to reveal the final 3d shape and symmetry of the scroll.
