His Old Lime Tree, based on a Russian traditional theme, will bring you to tears. I recorded it on my album Reminiscences of Russia. But Rudnev also can write such joyful music, sometimes with a jazzy feel. He wrote his White Grand Piano in a jazz café, in Hollywood, California, where his daughter lives.
