Heino Südwestlied
German singer, born Heinz Georg Kramm on 13 December 1938 in Düsseldorf, Germany. His older sister, Hannelore, had difficulty pronouncing his names, therefore he became Heino. He is characterized by his blond hair and dark glasses, which he wears due to exophthalmos. After school he qualified himself as a baker and confectioner, and in 1961 started a singing career as a member of the trio, The OK Singers. They focused on converting traditional folk songs to the pop format and were very popular in Germany. Heino married Hannelore Auersperg in 1979, and she became his manager and occasional singing partner. Heino was very popular in South Africa, undertaking two tours to the country in 1982 and in 1984, after which he released the album SüdAfrika 1984. On 30 September 2018, after a career of more than 50 years and having sold more than 50 million albums, Heino announced his retirement from the entertainment business. This song was originally released in 1978, but this version is off the album SüdAfrika 1984.
