During the recording of Johnny Cash s 1996 album, Unchained, the lyrics to As Long As The Grass Shall Grow were altered to reflect Johnny s relationship with his wife, June Carter Cash. The song was rerecorded as a duet featuring June s vocals with backing from Tom Petty The Heartbreakers. This version of As Long As The Grass Shall Grow was eventually released on the compilation, Unearthed, in 2003.
