Amanda Knox reconvicted of slandering barman
Amanda Knox has been reconvicted in an Italian court of slandering a barman who she claimed was involved in the murder of British student Meredith Kercher in the hilltop town of Perugia 17 years ago. Knox attended a court hearing on Wednesday where she accused Italian police of slapping her round the head and verbally abusing her during an hourslong nighttime interrogation a few days after 21yearold Ms Kercher was found stabbed to death in the university town. The court found that Knox had wrongly accused an innocent man, the Congolese owner of the bar where she worked part time, of the killing. But she will not serve any more jail time, given the threeyear sentence counts as time already served. Knox was in tears after the verdict was delivered.
