Submarine Ring of Fire 2004: Brimstone Pit Sulfur Eruptions
Video taken in 2004 by the Ropos remotely operated vehicle at the edge of Brimstone Pit near the summit of the Mariana Arc NW Rota1 volcano, showing an ash and sulfurladen volcanic eruption from the crater. The crater is at a depth of 555 meters (1, 820 feet). In the video, the yellow color of the billowing clouds is due to droplets of molten sulfur in the plume bursts at a temperature of over 100 ºC.
