Metropolis (1927)

In a highlystylized city, a wealthy utopia exists above a bleak underworld where mistreated workers live. When privileged youth Freder discovers the grim scene below, he sets out to help the workers and befriends the rebellious teacher Maria. But this puts him at odds with his authoritative father.
