Virgin Orbit from an airplane into space

Virgin Orbit is one of the space initiatives of Richard Branson s Virgin Group conglomerate. While Virgin Galactic specializes in the development of manned tourist flights to the edge of outer space, Virgin Orbit is focusing on launching light payloads. The project is based on the concept of an air launch, which involves launching carrier rockets from an aircraft. As a carrier aircraft, Virgin Orbit has a modified Boeing 747, which received its own name Cosmic Girl, and as a carrier rocket acts the small liquidpropellant LauncherOne.
