Our Stay at Smokemont Campground, Late Fall 2021
Our Fall 2019 trip to the Smokies was so perfectly timed for Fall color that we thought we d give it another shot for this year. This time, though, we stayed at Smokemont instead of Elkmont. The colors when we arrived were pretty much as spectacular as our trip in 2019, but the rains set in and we had two and a half days of steady downpour. We got plenty of rest hunkering down in our Casita travel trailer, but the rain did manage to knock a lot of the color out of the local forests by the time it ended. Still, we were very pleased with the Autumn tree show this year, too. Not quite as stunning as in 2019, but almost. So here s a tour of the campground and the two sites we used. The pull through site in Section D was excellent. Lots of room. The site in Section B was not as spacious, but it was closer to the bathroom. We had barely enough room to park the trailer and our truck (you have to stay completely on the pavement). Only a small trailer such as ours would this have worked. If you h
