Concrete Display Base 1, 72 Airfield
Czech out this 1, 72 scale display base for my latest MiG21 model build. I turn a piece of foam and some plaster into a realistic tarmac display detailing all the steps along the way. I also made a DIY static grass applicator from a kit I purchased for an allin price of cheaper than most applicators on the market. This is modelled after Čáslav air base in the Czech Republic to be paired with an Eduard MiG 21MFN plane. I used Google satellite images to measure and scale the concrete slabs appropriately for 1, 72 as well as the photos at the link below to model the grassy area and drainage ditch. I took some artistic liberty with the exact placement on the yellow line. Its a simple base, but one that can be build quickly and relatively inexpensively. Inspiration Photos:
