Hurricane Otis: At least 27 dead, 4 missing after tropical storm crashes Mexico beach resort town
At least 27 people died and four are missing after a tropical storm swept Acapulco, Mexico on Wednesday night. Known as Hurricane Otis, the storm was so unexpectedly powerful and intensified so quickly that it tore large trees up by the roots, the government said. It destroyed buildings and flooded hospitals, forcing patients to be evacuated to safer areas. What Acapulco suffered was really disastrous, said Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador on Thursday during a press conference. Obrador suggested there could have been more deaths if residents and visitors of the beach resort town didnt protect themselves as well as they did.
