Restarting 12, 000 tons on a 2 Grade Rio Grande Style, 3 SD70 Ace leaders, Moffat Sub March 17, 2018
A loaded BNSF Sand Train headed Westbound on the Moffat Sub from Denver restarts after waiting in the Tolland Siding for the Eastbound Winter Park Express and Phippsburg Local. After the tunnel vented dispatcher gave then a green signal and all 5 locomotives, including 3 SD70Ace on the front and an ES44 and SD70Mac on the rear (22, 000 HP), started just about 12, 000 tones (80 cars) up the 2 grade toward the summit inside the Moffat Tunnel. The Rio Grande would have been proud of the all EMD consist on the head end, and with every tunnel those units got darker and darker. Check out my other video with the above mentioned Winter Park Express, Phippsburg local, and more. Thanks For Watching
