A ferryboat (balsa) collided with a bridge pillar in Brazils Amazon region Saturday, causing the spans central roadway to plunge into the Moju River along two cars and cutting a highway to one of the countrys busiest ports, authorities said. The state government said the five crew members on the ferry survived, but it had no information about any victims as about 650 feet (200 meters) of the halfmile (860 meter) bridge collapsed.
