Music CUTIEMARKS (ft. Chi Chi)

In the episode, The Show Stoppers, Scootaloo and the Cutiemark Crusaders become set on performing a song for a talent show in the hopes they can earn their cutie marks. Watching this as an adult, I realize how fucked up it gets. Applejack cringes at their rehearsals, Twilight tells them they should just do things theyre already good at instead of trying new things, and the CMC inevitably get laughed off stage because they werent perceived as good at what they were doing. I kept my focus on Scootaloo, though. She exhibited this desire for singing and kept trying until she was laughed at. I wanted to write a song about overcoming the fear of not being good enough and overcoming artistic cynics. I wanted to give Scootaloo the voice she wanted everyone to hear, and tried to articulate that in the song.
