Martha Grahamham Technique Spiral Extension Exercise, Elementary Level by Phyllis Gutelius
An Elementary Level Spiral Extension Floor Exercise taken from the full Graham Technique video program Guidelines in Contemporary Dance Training by Phyllis Gutelius. Simple spiral breaths develop into spiral changes from side to side, spiral leg extensions, and off center changes into the crossed position with the knee up. The base technical factor is maintaining the strong lift at the base of the abdominal and spinal core muscles to support any change. The base of the throat centered over the pelvic center and back of the head over the sacrum maintains a perpendicular line through the core of the body as a reference for placement throughout the exercise.
