Chinese and American Poetry in Translation by Wang Baihua, China Crossroads Go East Mandarin
This recorded talk by Wang Baihua introduces Chinese culture through Tang Poetry, and the difficulty of translating Chinese poetry into English. Wang Baihua is an Associate Professor of Chinese Language and Literature and Director of the Comparative Literature Program at Fudan University and also taught Emily Wang, who went on to found GoEast Mandarin in 2012. She cotranslated and coedited several books on poetry, including Emily Dickinson into Mandarin Chinese: China Crossroads hosts talks on all topics related to China, including business, foreign policy, and other areas as they relate to China, the idea being that China is both already a crossroads of the world and itself at a crossroads in terms of its future global influence.
