M, S of group of workers entering a lift rather like a mine shaft lift. They are lowered down into the ground. Point of view shot from inside the lift. Shot of the door being opened at the bottom lots of steam flies out. Narrator states: They are now under the East River. Men enter an airlock before going into the tunnel itself. Inside the airlock they are put slowly under pressure equal to that in the tunnel. They are released into the tunnel. Various shots of the men at work in this long underground tunnel. Prediction that the tunnel will be finished in 1932. M, S of the men emerging from the lift on the surface. The track will carry people from lower New York to Brooklyn.
