Womens Resolution At UN (1946)
London. Eleanor Roosevelt, widow of the late American President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, reading Women s Resolution at United Nations Conference at Central Hall, Westminster, London. She reads the resolution to mainly women audience in a rather small room natural sound. Women listening. She speaks of encouraging women to take part in reconstruction of their countries. She continues by recognising different treatment of women in different countries but calls for recognition of the women s work during the war and for international cooperation in including women in further work of creating better world. She, then, calls the women delegates by names to sign the open letter. Women approach desk and sign the letter, she also signs the letter herself. Woman English delegate rises to say that, thanks to good organisation of women s movement, the letter will be distributed to press and women societies around the country.
