A symbol of hope, RT visits a town on the front line
For most, the hammer and sickle is a symbol of Russias past, but for some caught up in the conflict in Ukraine, its a symbol for the present, and its a symbol for hope. As the everchanging face of the front line sees soldiers and equipment come and go, the everpresent reality for civilians is the threat of shelling by Ukrainian forces, or having their homes and schools turned into bases for war. In the town of Belogorovka, the hammer and sickle gives hope that an end to the conflict may be in sight. RTs Murad Gazdiev examines the troops and equipment on the front line, and talks to the civilians caught up in the conflict.
