Brave New World (1980) 1, 2
Directed by Burt Brinckerhoff in 1980, Brave New World is an American television film (Universal Television) and first shown on NBC on 7 March 1980 a year later, it was broadcast on the BBC. Based on the book by Aldous Huxley. It takes place in an authoritarian, future world in which society is dominated by a state apparatus so entrenched that it has all but erased any hint of individuality. Everyone in society is assigned a station from birth and, with the aid of conditioning, cajoled into accepting it happily. New ideas and independent thought are highly discouraged and, where possible, censored. Director: Burt Brinckerhoff Writers: Aldous Huxley (by), Robert E. Thompson (teleplay) Doran William Cannon (adaptation) Stars: Julie Cobb, Bud Cort, Keir Dullea
