How to Make Agar Nutrient Media for Orchid Seeds Quick and Easy Process
In today s episode, I m sharing how to make the agar media for growing orchid seeds. I ll share my process on how to create the nutrient solution for sowing orchid seeds. This is the germination media used in aseptic orchid seed sowing. It s the first step of several to grow orchids from seed. There are many ways to do this and many variations as is what I do and what works for me. I ll also talk about the reasoning behind this procedure and why I do what I do. I m using Phytotech P723 Orchid Sowing Media for epiphytic orchids. Terrestrial orchids require a different recipe for agar media. For sterilization, I steamed the solution for 40 minutes. If you were to autoclave it or use a pressure cooker (121C at 15psi) with the same volume (50ml), then it needs about 1520 minutes.
