This song was written in the summer of 1999, after sitting in Maharishi s garden meditating for many hours, wishing to have a chance to meet him. Seven years later, in April 2005, I had the great good fortune to sing To be close to you to Maharishi live. After finishing the song there was a long, silent pause, and then Maharishi said, Sing a Jai Guru Dev song. I didn t have a Jai Guru Dev song to sing at that time.
