RARE fossil shark tooth Its from a super rare transitional Hubbelli shark and I try and prep it
EDIT 15 Feb 2021: It s been identified as a very rare Carcharadon hubbelli a transitional tooth between isurus and carcharias (great white shark). The first reported from New Zealand I couldn t believe my eyes when I saw the sun glint of this large shark tooth It s by far my biggest one yet and is in great condition. It was stuck in between two large rocks and I was really lucky to have found it. Half of it was still in the rock so I decided to try and prep it out of the rock risky, but I thought it would be worth it. This shark tooth is from the late Miocene, around about the 5 6 millionyearold mark from what I can tell. There is a chance that it could be Pleistocene, much younger, given the location. It has a few layers all on top of each
