EVERTON 1 1 SOUTHAMPTON (5 6 ON PENALTIES), Carabao Cup highlights
A muchchanged Everton side bowed out of the Carabao Cup on penalties for the second season in a row after a 11 draw with Southampton at Goodison Park. Despite being short of options due to illness and injuries, the Blues created a host of chances throughout, taking a deserved lead on 20 minutes through Abdoulaye Doucoures closerange header. Saints skipper Taylor HarwoodBellis levelled with a header of his own just beyond the halfhour mark, but Everton had plenty of opportunities to win the contest, with Jesper Lindstrøm wondering how he didnt get off the mark for the Toffees. It meant the tie was decided on penalties and, after the first 11 spotkicks were converted, Ashley Young saw his effort saved by Alex McCarthy to see the visitors prevail 65.
