Earth horizon curve simulation ( No atmosphere, No tilt, 65 FOV)
A simulation to show how curved the Earth s horizon appears at different altitudes. This version has no atmosphere and the camera stays level. The horizontal field of view is set to 65 degrees. Altitude: The camera s distance from the ground. Horizon distance: The direct distance from the camera to the horizon. Distance on surface: The distance from the surface point directly below the camera along the surface to the horizon. Dip angle: The angle between eye level and the horizon. Rendered in POVRay. Source texture: Reto Stöckli, NASA Earth Observatory. Music:
