Bruce s Beach: Land Returned to Black Family After 98 Years

The Bruce family contacted Public Counsel in2020 to explore whether there was a legal remedy to return land that had been stolen from their ancestors nearly 100 years ago by the City of Manhattan Beach. Our team helped oversee the legal research and advocacy for this victory, and coordinated with pro bono attorneys from Kirkland Ellis; Munger, Tolles Olson; and Sidley Austin.
