The 600th anniversary of the birth of the founder of Katori Shinto ryū
The 600th Anniversary of the Birth of lizasa Chōisai Commemorative Event was conducted on May 10, 1987. It was a beautiful spring day. The event began with a service at Katori Jingü before moving to the Sawara Municipal Culture Hall for a demonstration event with 20 kobudo traditions including Katori Shinto ryu. This was followed by a celebratory party. We had originally planned to hold the demonstration within the grounds of Katori Jingü, but decided on the Culture Hall following advice from Sawara City Hall. They reasoned that it would be the best option given the possibility of rain. The event was a resounding success. The venue was filled to capacity, with some attendees even standing to watch. At 10: 00, my eldest son Ötake Nobutoshi delivered the event s opening address as the organising committee chairperson, followed by the event chairperson, Iizasa Yasusada Söke s speech.
