Miracle Marathon 2016: Timothy Morton

Timothy Morton: Stuff Can Happen. Timothy Morton is Rita Shea Guffey Chair in English at Rice University. He gave the Wellek Lectures in Theory in 2014 and has collaborated with Björk, Haim Steinbach and Olafur Eliasson. As part of her collaboration with Navine G. KhanDossos on the Miracle Marathons stage design, artist Sophia AlMaria has taken the keying colours within the design (made up of the digital RGB colour palette of red, green and blue), otherwise known as chroma keys, to add a specialeffects technique to a selection of recordings. In postproduction she has grafted film onto the chroma key colours of the backdrop. The effect generated by the film onto the Marathons archive materials infuses the stage with a new visual dimension.
