Australia on alert for heatwaves, fires and drought following El Nino declaration
Australia is set to see an abundance of clear blue skies and hot weather this summer but along with that recordbreaking heat, widespread bushfires and flash droughts are also set to impact the nation. The Bureau of Meteorology formally declared Australia was under El Nino weather patterns around midSeptember. This comes after La Nina brought three successive summers of record rain and devastating floods. Australia is primed for the most active fire season since the Black Summer Bushfires of 2019, 20.
