T 62 VS Leopard 2 AV, Armour Piercing Simulation
This simulation shows the impact of a 3BM3 APFSDS with Tungsten Carbide slug being fired from a Russian T62 tank at a range of 1km, targeting the front side of a German Leopard 2AV hull. The T62 main battle tank was noted for four main achievements: it was the first Soviet tank to mount a highpower 115mm smoothbore gun; it was the first Soviet tank to use armourpiercing finstabilized discarding sabot (APFSDS) ammunition; it was only produced in the Soviet Union and not licensed for production in Warsaw Pact countries as with the T34, T54 and T55 (although the DPRK received a conditional license to produce their version of the tank); and it was the last simple tank produced as an example of the first generation of postwar Soviet tanks.
