Let s abolish the police

There are periodic demands to defund the police and allow communities to deal with civil order and crime for themselves. In other words, let the people run society, rather than the politicians and police officers who usually undertake the task. A look at recent history suggests that there are grave disadvantages to such Utopian ideas. The most recent instance of this was seen in the CHAZ, as the Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone of Seattle was termed last summer.
