The Machigonne March by Mabelle G. Doughty (1907)
Original listing and sheet music here: A wonderful good old fashioned march, written and selfpublished by a composer from Maine in 1907. Machigonne was the indigenous name for the region around what is now Portland, Maine, Maine s largest city. It was also the name of a large luxury yacht which served as a ferry for the elite starting in 1907. The cover of this piece features a good photo of the Machigonne, which is still afloat even today, in Brooklyn, New York, renamed the Yankee Ferry. Thank you to JohnJ1995 for finding this info.
