Russian Orthodox believers plunge into the freezing waters in Shchyolkovo near Moscow to celebrate Epiphany on Monday, January 18, as the temperature drops to 19 C. Participants in the ritual dip themselves in freezing water three times to honour the Holy Trinity and symbolically wash away their sins.
