The popular Hammersmith seal Freddie Mercury has been put down BBC London
The popular Hammersmith seal Freddie Mercury has been put down after being attacked by a dog. Freddie was known for his crowdpleasing antics in the Thames and many felt he lived up to his name. But after an incident involving a dog attack, Freddie was taken to South Essex Wildlife Hospital in Tilbury where he was treated for a bite on his flipper. Xrays revealed Freddie suffered a broken bone, dislocation as well as damage to his joints, ligaments and nerves, which resulted in the decision to put him down for welfare purposes. The British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) is urging people to be careful around wildlife near the Thames. Subscribe here: Check out BBC London: Instagram: Facebook: Twitter:
